force copy), I don't see an option under "Restore and Sync" to actually select messaging.Īm I missing something stupid / obvious? The raw data seems to be there (for example, call logs were uploaded just fine, text messages seem to have an issue). When I try to restore via helium server, it quickly shows me everything as restored but I don't see the messages.
#Titanium backup pro non rooted phones how to
Anyways - the one thing I can't seem to figure out is how to restore text messages (.ab) - I've tried to do it as a whole app using the PC interface, tried copying the folder as a replacement via Android File Transfer to the 'carbon' folder, etc. Everything else seemed to work (thanks for this solution, definitely helpful to at least confirm data). I do have a question about text messages, though. This is probably the most fool-proof solution. ab files from the original backup to the new backup folders. Then I did another backup of all the apps I wanted. I started each app (so that Helium would see them) without any configuration.

I had to download and install each app that I wanted to restore (from Play store). If I backup a new app it does place the backup in that specific folder. Completely reset the Nexus 7 and transferred back the folder but Helium doesn't see the carbon folder with backup apps in it. Used Helium to make a backup of some apps, stored the folder on my PC. Same issue here, except I use a Nexus 7 and only this Nexus 7. Should I put the carbon folder elsewhere or something? I really need help because I do not want to start these games from the beginning again I also tried manually copying the files from carbon to the data folder and overwrote the files there, but when I start the game it still sends me to the beginning as if I started from scratch. However, when I click "Restore" on Helium on my HTC One, it says it cannot detect any backup files. I then plugged my HTC One and copied the carbon folder in the root of the Internal Storage.

Since I didn't pay for Helium Premium, I just copied the carbon folder (I assume that is where it's storing the backups) from my Nexus 4 and transferred it to the PC.

note I do NOT want a full backup that's why I used Helium because I heard it can backup specific apps only) from my old Nexus 4.

How to restore Helium Files So I just got an HTC One, and I'm trying to restore some of my app data (mostly save games. I will try that out next time I have to wipe/restore my phone. To solve this problem, you can use another backup app to restore the apps to the new phone, then restore the backup files made by Helium. Of course you can extract it on PC and then copy to the new phone, too.Ģ.Helium can only restore data of apps, not including apps themselves, even though it says it can. So you compressed them on the phone, copied them to the new one, and extracted them again? Then ran Helium? The problem is some apps are "disallowed" to be backup, only part of them can be.

The solution was to compress them to a RAR file, then extracted it after copying to PC or new phone, so it could be recognized and restored. I found some phone changed backup files when they were been copied from internal storage to PC. I have tried to transfer apps and data just like what you did with Helium. Though one reviewer mentions that it works on Oreo just fine. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the fact that the app hasn't been updated since October 2016. I'm leery of rooting it again.Īnd before anyone asks, yes, I checked the permissions, and they were already all enabled, storage access included. If I could, I'd just copy over my TB folder from the Nexus again, and go from there, but that's not a viable option. I was pissed, to say the least, as I had spent well over an hour restoring and setting it up. So I had to load download mode and restore it to stock. I tried rooting the Galaxy, which worked fine, but after a few hours, somehow it randomly rebooted and got stuck booting to upload mode every time no matter what I did. I then transferred the carbon folder to my PC, and then copied it to my new phone, but the backups aren't recognized. I repeatedly get an unspecified, generic error when trying to back them up to the cloud. And yet they would ONLY backup to internal storage. Unfortunately, out of the 24 apps that I'm trying to back up, only 11 apparently worked. As far as I know, Helium is the only method for backing up application data without root access. The Nexus 6 is on Oreo, and the Galaxy is on Nougat. Helium Backup doesn't work any other options for non-rooted devices? - Questions and Answers I'm trying to transfer app data from my rooted Nexus 6 to my stock Galaxy S8+.
